About · A small AI-setup practice for small teams
A small practice.Started on the ground, run on the ground.
Brickbench AI is a one-to-a-few consultancy that sets up local AI workflows for small teams. We work in plain language, on-site when we can, on a video call when we cannot, and on a shared screen when neither of us is in the same room.

How we work
Four principles, no proprietary stack.
The work is small enough to write the rules down on one page. That page is the brief our engagements run on.
01 — On the ground
Start where the work happens.
We open every engagement in person, on a video call, or on a shared screen — never on a deck. The first session is spent watching the team work, not pitching them. The notes from that session become the brief; we do not start writing prompts until the brief is signed off.
02 — Outcome-based
A fixed price and a fixed outcome.
Engagement work is quoted flat, after intake, in a range explicitly meant to be tight enough to fit on a credit-card limit. Subscription work is month-to-month, cancel anytime. Either shape ends with artefacts your team owns, ends with a written handover, ends with a relationship you can walk away from.
03 — No resale
We do not resell software.
No referral fees, no white-label platform, no proprietary "stack" to install. You keep the prompts, the recipes, and the playbook. If a tool stops fitting, we help you swap it without lock-in.
04 — Governance
Audit trails are written down.
Every workflow gets a written walk-through of how data moves — where it lives, who can read it, how it ages out. You keep the audit; we sign off on it together before anything ships.
On the ground
What “on the ground” looks like, in plain words.
We use the phrase a lot. It is not a logo. Here is what it means in practice, on a Tuesday at a small company with three people in the room.
- The first hourWe watch the team do the work that the AI is supposed to help with. We do this in person, on a shared screen, or on a video call — never on a deck.
- The next two hoursWe write down, in your words, what the team actually does — the steps, the exceptions, the friction. That becomes the brief. We sign off on it before any prompt is written.
- The next two weeksWe write the prompt library, wire two or three automation recipes to tools you already pay for, and walk the data path for the governance review.
- The last hourWe hand over the prompts, the recipes, the audit, and a one-page playbook the team can run without us. The relationship can end here, or move to the ongoing subscription.
What we will — and will not — do
The relationship is short by design. It is also honest by design — here is the part the deck would normally skip.
- We do not bring our own stack to install — you keep your tools.
- We do not take referral fees from a vendor you already pay for.
- We do not bill by the hour — quotes are flat or monthly.
- We do not resell a platform. If we ever do, the relationship ends the same day.
Tell us how the team works — we will start there.
A short note about the team, the tools you already pay for, and the question you are trying to answer is enough. We read every intro ourselves.
